#1069 new enhancement

Create status page for services

Reported by: Frank Löffler Owned by:

Component: Cactus Version:

Services (web server, repositories ect) might go down unnoticed or might be available only from certain (local) sites. It would be nice to have some kind of monitor regularly checking availability of Cactus/ET services and reports if something doesn't work as expected.

Preferably from both without LSU and from outside. Mostly it the issues seem to have been that a server was completely unreachable, so maybe even a

and a

svn info

in an hourly cronjob on a workstation (I'll set up the outside check on mine if desired) would do.

The site seems functional. It does however currently (Sat Oct 27 14:06:06 PDT 2012) list and and as unabailable in green. This should likely be in red. which is listed as self-signed triggers a warning in my browser (Firefox/Iceweasel 10.0.9 on debian testing):

Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to

You have received an invalid certificate. Please contact the server administrator or email correspondent and give them the following information:

Your certificate contains the same serial number as another certificate issued by the certificate authority. Please get a new certificate containing a unique serial number.

(Error code: sec_error_reused_issuer_and_serial)

The page you are trying to view can not be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site.

Frank: could you send me the cgi script please so that I can also run in on my workstation for an outside test?

Some sites are green and unavailable because they are expected to be unavailable (but planned for the future). And of course self-signed certificates (apart from of course the root certs) trigger a warning. Again, if they are green, that's to be expected for the time being. Red is reserved for issues of concern, green for expected behaviour.

Will send the script, but probably not within the next few days (swamped).
