CAPTCHA on docs.einsteintoolkit.org may stop working soon

Every once in a while, when I forgot to properly log into the wiki an want to save a page, I am confronted by a CAPTCHA to prove that I am human.

A subset of those CAPTCHAs actually look like that attached screenshot, ie they seem to indicate that the CAPTCHAs may stop working on 2018-03-31 which is rather soon.

I am not sure if this can be fixed by a relatively painless update of a plugin or if it will require complete update of the wiki server.

    The system is now modified to require login. I think this makes more sense than using a captcha. Does anyone disagree?

    Does this mean that everyone who would like to edit the wiki has to first get an account (either a CCT one which is impossible for casual users or a wiki one which I don't know how long it takes to create)?

    The CAPTCHAs were useful because they allowed anyone to make a fix without the barrier of having to first create an account. So in that sense I would be unhappy to see the ability to edit the wiki quickly go away.

    Indeed right now one can no longer make edits to the wiki without login in. This should be fixed since the whole point of the wiki is to make it easy for everyone to edit the documentation and having to first create an account is a barrier.

    I've been talking to our IT folks about re-enabling this for some time. The old captchas stopped working, but we couldn't upgrade because of various version incompatibilities. They think they may be near a solution.

    This is still happening and affects both Bhavesh and Helvi. Hi, As Roland already mentioned, I am also having trouble creating a user account or creating an entry on the wiki. I would appreciate if this is can be resolved. Thanks.

    While anonymous editing is still not possible, one can now create an account and edit the wiki afterwards.

    Is there a chance to re-enable anonymous editing which would make it even easier for casual users to contribute (or add things to the agenda)? Of course having people sign in to edit makes the page edit history much more useful.

    I think it's better to require new users to create an account, so that we can see who made each change. If the process of creating an account is relatively frictionless, I think that's fine. i.e. like the shopping sites that just ask you for an email address and password at the end of the checkout procedure, not the ones that force you to jump through several "account creation" pages.

    The plan is not to allow anonymous editing, but to allow anyone to have an account.
